Our Story
In October 2012, Jim and Elizabeth Nelson realized their dream by opening Elizabeth's Gourmet Delights, a bakery and café in Northwood Commons. Elizabeth, a native of Cameroon with a rich background in French and European baking traditions, brings her lifelong passion for baking to life each day. Her husband Jim, having retired from a career in commercial air conditioning, manages the finances, billing, and marketing, proudly supporting Elizabeth's culinary talents.
Their journey to owning a bakery began in 2011 when they discovered a farmer's market at Wiregrass and immediately decided to participate. Renting commercial bakery space and using a U-Haul van to transport their goods, they built a loyal customer base by selling fresh, warm bread and pastries. The success of their portable business inspired them to expand, eventually leading them to open their own shop in Clearwater.
Over the past decade, Elizabeth's Gourmet Delights has become a beloved community staple, known for its European-style pastries, fresh breads, and gourmet breakfasts and lunches. The bakery's offerings, made from scratch with fresh ingredients and no preservatives, reflect Elizabeth's dedication to quality and flavor. The Nelsons attribute their success to the support of their warm, accepting community and remain committed to their labor of love, continuing to delight customers with every visit.
